The Ballad of Darren is the band's ninth studio album, their first since the chart-topping The Magic Whip in 2015, with artwork featuring an image by British photographer Martin Parr. I ended up getting most of the reissues except Leisure, my least favourite, TGE and TT as I have those original pressings. Beetlebum, On Your Own, Death of a Party, Look Inside America and Strange News From Another Star are standouts, but the album highlight is Essex Dogs, a track that offers something new every time I listen to it. Although Blur had long been recognised as one of the premier bands responsible for the reinvigoration of Britpop in the 1990s, it is 1994's Parklife that truly provided the template for the entire movement.
